PROJECT OAK
Project Oak will combine bushcraft, creativity, woodsmanship and sustainability. This winter a mature Oak tree in my woodland is to be felled. Over the coming years I shall be inviting craftsmen, artists, bushcrafters and anyone interested to use the resources from the tree as imaginatively as they can. Furniture, building, craft, poetry, sculpture, writing, charcoal, film ... any response is valid and will be carefully documented to create a growing celebration of the tree and its ongoing life. Our pledge to the Oak is simple : we will use every last twig of you as purposefully and creatively as we can. The first phase of this can be seen at the Salthouse Gallery in St. Ives, Cornwall, this August and will showcase woodcuts, carvings, furniture and art directly inspired by the oak and using its timber.
You don't have to be an artist or a craftsman to get involved. Everyone and anyone interested in responding is welcome. If you or your organisation would like to be part of Project Oak then please contact David.
